Match Game Finale AKA Adam Pally Is One Of The Greatest People Ever Don't @ Me

After seven great episodes up to this point, it was time for the Match Game Season 6 Finale! I was looking forward to this, as not only had the season been great up to this point, they were going to have six amazing panelists on this episode. Before I get into it, here’s who the panelists were and why they are famous.

Adam Pally - actor and comedian known for starring in Happy Endings, The Mindy Project, and the Sonic The Hedgehog Movies and Shows.

Randall Park - actor known for starring in Fresh Off The Boat.

Kal Penn - actor known for starring in Harold & Kumar, House, and Designated Survivor.

Ana Gasteyer - actress, comedian, and singer known for being a cast member on Saturday Night Live.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph - actress known for starring in Only Murders In The Building and The Holdovers.

Beanie Feldstein - actress known for starring in Lady Bird, Booksmart, and Only Murders In The Building.

The episode started off funny, as Martin Short kicked off the episode by saying he was glad that he didn’t let his pinkeye stop him from coming to the show that night, and then saying that our galaxy has over 100 billion stars, but unfortunately, none of them could make it that night.

The first celebrity that he addressed was Adam Pally, who told Martin that they had met before, as a mutual friend of theirs had introduced them. The friend told Martin that it was his friend Adam, and Martin responded to the friend, whose name was Nick, “Oh, there’s a heavy version of you.” Martin then commented to Adam that he had lost a lot of weight, to which Adam responded by saying “Thank you for saying that out loud to people on television.”

He then introduced Randall Park as a living legend, and said that he loved that he was Randall to his fans, but Mr. Park to his child, to which Randall corrected him that it was actually Master Park.

He then introduced Kal Penn by saying that he inhabits the world of stoner comedies and the world of politics, and then asking him which one kills more brain cells.

He then introduced Ana Gasteyer as the genius of geniuses, and then saying that he always loved her on SNL, and then following that up by saying that he always thought to himself “How good would she be if she put some effort into it?”

He then introduced Da’Vine Joy Randolph as one of his costars on Only Murders In The Building, which premieres September 9 on Hulu. No, I did not add that in, he actually said that. He also said that she recently won an Academy Award, and when he saw her win the Oscar, it reminded him of when he won his Oscar five years from now.

He then introduced Beanie Feldstein as his costar on Only Murders In The Building, which is on Hulu September 9. Yes, he actually said that a second time.

Before they could move on, Adam Pally interrupted by calling him “Mr. Crystal,” meaning Billy Crystal, to which Martin said that it was Short, and he was Martin Short, to which Adam said “Who?” Martin then clarified that he was Martin Short, to which Adam responded that it was close enough to Billy Crystal. Martin then asked him if he knew the great thing about his career, to which he immediately responded that he didn’t.

From there, it was time to meet the first two contestants.

The first contestant we were introduced to was Garrett, who is a cake artist who has made a surprising amount of cakes that look like Breasts.

The second contestant we were introduced to was Victoria, who works in correctional services and is a witch. Yes, you read that correctly, Victoria says that she is a witch. More specifically, a part time witch. This prompted Martin to have an amazing response to her, which was asking her that she had been in therapy for how long. He then confirmed that Victoria wouldn’t put hexes on people or do anything evil with her witchdom, to which she responded “Only positive. You get back what you put out.”

From there, it was time for the game to start and Victoria’s first question.

Her question was “Literal Larry takes everything literally. He signed up for a spin class at the gym, so he thought he needed a ______________.” From there, my parents said “Top” as their answer. As the celebrities were writing down their answers, Martin commented that it was like everyone had a mini stroke, as he had never seen silence or fear, and Adam was still feeling badly about the joke that didn’t work, prompting Adam to ask “Which one?”

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Victoria gave her answer, which was “Plates,” which I think is a very bizarre answer. I know Plate Spinners are a thing, but they are not as popular as they were back in the 60s or 70s.

After she gave that answer, Martin asked if they should just say goodbye to Victoria right then just to avoid the middle man.

When he asked Adam for his answer, Adam started off by saying “Well, Mr. Spade, I wrote…,” meaning that he was referring to David Spade, before Martin reminded him that he was Martin Short, to which Adam apologized and admitted that he thought he was going to meet a hero that day.

Adam then revealed that he wrote “Wheel” as his answer.

Randall then revealed that he wrote “Top” as his answer.

Kal then admitted that he had no idea how he brought this to the gym, and revealed that he wrote “Merry-Go-Round” as his answer.

Ana then revealed that she wrote “Top” as her answer.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Barf Bag” as her answer.

Beanie then revealed that she wrote “Wheel” as her answer.

This meant that Victoria had no points, and from there, it was time for Garrett’s first question.

His question was “Adam Pally is a disastrous cook. He once set his kitchen on fire while making ____________ for breakfast.” From there, my parents immediately decided that “Cereal” was the correct answer because it was funny.

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Garrett gave his answer, which was “Cereal.”

Adam then revealed that he wrote “Huevos Endings” as his answer. Yes, that is actually what he wrote, and it’s a play on Huevos Rancheros and the show he starred in called Happy Endings. Martin responded to that by saying that no one remembers that show.

Randall then revealed that he wrote “Cereal” as his answer.

Kal then revealed that he wrote “Waffles” as his answer.

Ana then revealed that she also wrote “Cereal” as her answer.

After Martin and Ana made fun of Adam getting the question wrong again and giving such a bizarre answer, Adam said that he was probably thrown off by his name being in the question, which Martin and Ana clearly didn’t believe, to which Ana said that really smart people don’t get thrown by that, generally, such as people who thought of “Cereal,” to which Adam shot back that they were supposed to be giving to whatever the name of the host was, then saying they were supposed to be giving it to Elijah Wood. Martin then asked Adam if he called him that because of the height, and Adam said that was what he thought when he looked in his eyes.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Eggs” as her answer.

Beanie then revealed that she wrote “Boob Cake” as her answer.

This meant that at the end of Round 1, Garrett had two points while Victoria had none.

After a commercial break, it was time for Round 2 and Garrett’s second question where he could match with everyone else.

His question was “Old McDonald has a line of yoga clothes for farm animals called MooMooMelon. They’re made with special fibers that are resistant to _____________ stains.” From there, because they said farm animals in general and not one specific farm animal, my parents felt the correct answer was “Manure.”

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Garrett gave his answer, which was “Manure.”

Martin went to Adam first for his answer, and everything that I am about to say was actually said. After asking for his answer, Adam said, and I am not making this up, and I don’t know if you’re ready for this, “I’d like to pass, Mrs. Walters.”

Yes, he actually said that to Martin. I guess he was referring to Barbara Walters, but I don’t know.

Martin responded to that by saying “We’re looking for Manure, and we found it,” referring to Adam himself.

Before Adam revealed his answer, he said that he didn’t know if he knew what show he was on, seriously he actually said that, and then he revealed his answer.

Before I tell you what he wrote, I want you to think of the craziest possible answer you can think of. I am asking you to do that because no matter what you come up with, it will not be as crazy as what Adam actually wrote.

This was Adam’s actual word for word response:

“Here’s a poo, there’s a poo, everywhere a poo stain.”

Yes, you are reading that correctly. That was an actual answer that was written by Adam, and yes it was basically a sentence that no contestant would ever say, but because Garrett said “Manure,” it was considered a match. One of the few times in the show’s history that a sentence answer ended up matching.

Martin then went over to Randall for his answer, to which Randall had to tell him that he wasn’t playing that round, to which Martin clarified that he was just asking him if he was looking for manure.

From there, the other three panelists revealed that they all wrote “Milk.”

This meant that Garrett now had three points, and from there, it was time for Victoria’s second question, where she needed three to tie and four to win.

Her question was “ABC’s hit show 20/20 got a spinoff called 420/420. It’s high on critics’ lists, and it’s hosted by ______________.” From there, me and my parents were confident that the correct answer was “Snoop Dogg.”

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Victoria gave her answer, which was “Cheech & Chong,” which is another bizarre answer. Yes, Cheech & Chong are heavily associated with weed, but they are not current at all whatsoever.

When Martin went over to Adam for his answer, he immediately started to aggressively shake his head, not wanting to reveal his answer, which he revealed was “Adam Pally.”

From there, all the other panelists revealed that they had written either “Seth Rogen” or “Snoop Dogg” as their answers, which meant that Garrett had won.

After that, it was time for the Super Match, and Garett had a chance to win $25,000. When asked what he would do with that money, he said that he would put in a fence for his dog Cookie to run free, and when he turns 50 next year, he wants to go to Bora Bora and stay in one of the huts over the water. Martin then told him that a fence for his dog was about 50 bucks, and then the rest would be spent on Bora Bora.

From there, it was time for the Audience Match, and they polled the Match Game Home Audience and got their most popular responses to “_____________ Secret.” When Martin first said this, instead of saying “Blank,” he accidentally said “Black,” From there, my brain could only think of one answer, and I couldn’t think of two more.

The first celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Ana, who said “Chef’s,” which I don’t know what it means, and is a terrible answer.

The second celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Beanie, who said “Top,” which is also the answer that I thought of.

The third celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Da’Vine, who said “Super,” which again, I don’t know what it means, and it’s another terrible answer.

The answer that Garrett chose to go with was “Top,” and from there the $2,000 Answer was revealed to be “I’ve Got A,” which really makes me wonder who they were asking, as I don’t think anyone says that anymore, and the panelists on the bottom row were clearly bothered by it being on the board, as they didn’t know they could say a whole sentence and thought they could only say one word, to which Martin responded that there were no rules there.

The $3,000 Answer was then revealed to be “Victoria’s,” which I can’t believe I didn’t even think of.

The $5,000 Answer was then revealed to be “Top,” which meant that Garrett had just won $5,000.

From there, it was time for the Celebrity Head To Head Match, and Garrett now had a chance to win $25,000.

He chose to stick with Beanie, who had to write down her response to “Parking ______________.” From there, three answers occurred to me and my parents, and they were “Meter,” “Lot,” and “Ticket.”

After Beanie locked in her answer, Garrett gave his answer, which was “Lot.” And then in one of the most unfortunate moments of the entire show, Beanie revealed her card, which showed that she had locked in “Ticket” as her answer, and crossed out her original answer of “Lot.” This meant that Garrett didn’t make a match, but he still won $5,000, which everybody described as enough money for a dog fence.

After the show returned from commercial break, Martin talked to Adam again, asking him if he has children, to which Adam said that he does, and Martin then said that he just became a grandfather, and hearing the pitter-patter of little feet around the house is like when Kevin Hart comes to visit, to which Adam told Martin that Kevin Hart was not going to his house.

From there, it was time to meet the last two contestants of the season.

The first contestant we were introduced to was Fabian, who served in the Army.

The second contestant we were introduced to was Quinn, who is a professional football player turned musician, and also a force instructor, which means that he teaches security guards how to use handcuffs and batons in a proper way.

From there, it was time for the game to start with Quinn’s first question.

His question was “Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is done with Hollywood. Now he’s Dwayne ‘The Caulk’ Johnson. A handyman who fixes your _______________.” From there, the answer that occurred to me was “Bathroom Tiles.” Upon rewatching the episode, I noticed something I missed the first time, which was that when Martin said that Adam had locked in his answer, Adam shook his head aggressively again.

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Quinn gave his answer, which was “Holes.”

Martin then went up to Adam for his answer, and this is what Adam said.

“I don’t know if this is because I feel like I’m very similar to that guy, but I wrote ‘Holes,’” which gave Quinn a point.

Randall then revealed that he wrote “Pipes” as his answer.

Kal then revealed that he wrote “Balls” as his answer for some reason.

Ana then revealed that she wrote “Tiles” as her answer.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Pipes” as her answer.

Beanie then revealed that she also wrote “Pipes” as her answer.

This meant that Quinn had one point, and from there, it was time for Fabian’s first question.

His question was “Chantal said ‘I think my Roomba has a mind of its own. Just yesterday, I caught it trying to hump my _____________.’” From there, my parents came up with “Rug” and “Couch” as their answers.

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Martin asked Adam for his answer, and before Adam could say anything, he realized he still had to ask Fabian for his answer, and then when he went over to the contestants, he first asked Quinn for his answer instead of Fabian.

Fabian then gave his answer, which was “Rug.”

Adam then revealed that he wrote “iPhone 11” as his answer for some reason, which prompted Martin to ask him why it was so uninteresting for him to help anyone, to which Adam responded by saying that he had just helped Quinn get a point, to which Martin responded back by saying that it was a fluke.

Randall then revealed that he wrote “Couch” as his answer.

Kal then revealed that he wrote “Rug” as his answer.

Ana then revealed that she wrote “Sofa” as her answer.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Dog” as her answer.

Beanie then revealed that she also wrote “Dog” as her answer.

This meant that at the end of Round 1, both Quinn and Fabian had one point.

After a commercial break, it was time for Round 2 and Fabian’s second question.

His question was “Hooters just hired their first group of male waiters. Why? Because equal rights, that’s why. To celebrate, they’re adding _______________ to the menu.” From there, I knew that the correct answer was “Hot Dogs.” While the celebrities were writing down their answers, Martin reminded everyone that Kal couldn’t play in this round, but Adam could play, sadly, to which Adam responded that he didn’t want to.

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Fabian gave his answer, which was “Hot Dogs.”

Martin then went up to Adam for his answer, to which Adam responded “Let’s just get this over with,” and then revealed that he wrote “Pecks” as his answer.

Yes, you are reading that correctly. Adam Pally wrote “Pecks” as his answer of what Hooters added to their menu. I have no idea what this means, and I think Martin summed it up best when he said “Yeah, ‘cause everyone loves Southern Fried Pecks.” Martin then said that he realized there had to be a requirement for the game, which is that you have to have finished high school.

Randall then revealed that he wrote “Sausages” as his answer, which the judges surprisingly did not consider a match. Yet again proving that on this show, the judges are all over the place.

Ana then revealed that she wrote “Wieners” as her answer, which was considered a match.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Meatballs” as her answer.

Beanie then revealed that she wrote “Rooster” as her answer, and if you’re wondering why she wrote this, you should know that another name for a rooster is a Clock but without the L.

This meant that Fabian now had two points, and from there, it was time for Quinn’s second question, where he needed one to tie and two to win.

His question was “Benny the Beaver said ‘Working from home totally blows. The minute I walk into the dam home office, my husband calls HR on me for staring at his ____________.’” From there, me and my parents didn’t think there was a good answer, as all we could think of was “Teeth” or “Tail,” which we didn’t think was good.

After all the celebrities had locked in their answers, Quinn gave his answer, which was “Wood,” and as soon as he said that, me and my parents realized that was the correct answer and we couldn’t believe that we didn’t think of it.

Randall then said that he was still upset over the previous question, so he revealed that he wrote “Sausage or Wiener or Hot Dog etc.” as his answer.

Kal then revealed his answer, which was censored, though if I had to guess, he wrote down the name of a male body part.

Ana then revealed that she wrote “Sticks” as her answer, which was considered a match. Da’Vine then called this out, saying that if “Sticks” matched, then so should “Sausages,” which resulted in another buzzer sounding.

Da’Vine then revealed that she wrote “Wood” as her answer, which gave Quinn three points and the win. Beanie also showed that she wrote “Fluffy Tail” as her answer, which I find funny, as while a beaver does have a tail, it’s not fluffy.

After that, it was time for Super Match, and Quinn had a chance to win $25,000. When asked what he would do if he won that money, he said that he would open his own gym, as it has always been his dream.

Up first was the Audience Match, and they polled the Match Game Home Audience and got their most popular responses to “Let It __________.” From there, there were two obvious answers that immediately occurred to me.

The first celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Ana, who said “Be,” which was one of the two answers I thought of.

The second celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Da’Vine, who said “Go,” which was the other answer I thought of.

The third celebrity he enlisted the aid of was Kal, who said “Snow.”

The answer Quinn chose to go with was “Be,” and from there the $2,000 answer was revealed to be “Rain,” which it sounded like Martin was confused by it being on the board with how he sounded when he read it. The $3,000 answer was then revealed to be “Go.” The $5,000 answer was then revealed to be “Be,” which meant that Quinn had just won $5,000.

From there, it was time for the Celebrity Head To Head Match, where Quinn had a chance to win $25,000. He chose to stick with Ana, who had to write down her answer to “Lip __________.” The answer that immediately occurred to me was “Stick.”

After Ana had locked in her answer, Quinn gave his answer, which was “Stick.” Ana then revealed that she wrote down “Stick,” which meant that Quinn had just won $25,000. I’m glad that the last game of the season ended with a contestant winning $25,000, it made it feel like it ended on a high note. While the celebrities were talking with Quinn at the end, Beanie told him that Adam wanted to say “Sting.” Yes, Adam thought the answer to “Lip _________” was “Sting.” Try to make sense of that.

Wow. To quote our good friend Charlie Puth, we’ve come a long way from where we began. What started as the show updating their cover photo on Facebook out of nowhere turned into me inadvertently going viral, and then led to the news that Match Game was coming back, and has resulted in me getting eight more episodes than I thought I would in my lifetime.

Overall, I really enjoyed this season. It was just as funny as the Alec Baldwin version, it gave me so many memorable moments, and I am so glad that I got to share it with all of you reading. I don’t know if the show is going to come back for another season, and unfortunately, I won’t know until ABC announces their summer lineup next year, but I am so grateful that this even happened at all.

I don’t know what’s next for me with writing, as Match Game has just ended its season, and The Masked Singer doesn’t return until January, and I can’t just write about events and places until then, so I will probably come up with other posts about Match Game and The Masked Singer between now and then. I’ll see you all soon with the next blog posts!
