MasterChef Episode 9
After a unique challenge last week with Recipe Telephone, it was time for the second team challenge of the season! I am going to be completely honest with you all up front right now, I am not the biggest fan of the team challenges on the show, as it is really just a showcase of who can mess up the most before there is somehow a winner, and since Match Game started right after this episode, my mind was not on the show I was watching at the time, and I even changed the channel before the episode ended, so this will not be a super in depth blog post.
For the challenge in this episode, the contestants had to make a fine-dining experience for 60 VIP train passengers, which consisted of an amuse-bouche and a main course. The amuse-bouche the red team made was Crab Vol Au Vent with Creme Fraiche, Dill, and Salmon Roe Caviar, which is a dish that I might be willing to try, and their main course was Filet Mignon with Sautéed Mushrooms, Mashed Potatoes, Wilted Greens, and Peppercorn Sauce, which is a dish that I would definitely be willing to try. The amuse-bouche that the blue team made was Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna Crisp with Avocado Puree and Pickled Onions, which is a dish that I might be willing to try, and their main course was a Pan Seared Duck Breast with Butternut Squash Puree, Roasted Carrots, and Port Wine Sauce, which is also a dish that I would be willing to try.
As part of the challenge, one duo from each team had to cook and serve the amuse bouche on the moving train, which was cramped, Joe Bastianich was breathing down their necks, and the ride lasted 45 minutes, and by the time the train got back, the main course had to be ready to serve.
From there, many mistakes were made by both teams, but in the end, there was a winner, and in this case it was the Blue Team.
I’m sorry that this blog post is way shorter than all the other ones, but the Team Challenges don’t give me much to talk about, and I was completely focused on Match Game at the time.
