Lego Masters Finale
After a very enjoyable season, it was time for the Lego Masters Season 5 Finale! As there isn’t much to this episode, I will be giving you the basic setup, what each team built, and the results.
For the challenge, the final three team had 18 hours to build their Master Build, and the winners would get the title of Lego Masters, the Lego Masters trophy, $100,000, and the winning build would also be put on display at Legoland New York.
The first team that presented their final build was Anthony and Joe, whose build was called Wild Ballet. The story there was that it was a wonderful collection of ballet dancers that happen to be some of the most wild animals you have ever seen. On the center stage was a hippo spinning and jumping, and there was also an elephant and a rhinoceros, as well as birds running around. The Brickmasters were impressed with how they pushed their creativity and imagination, as they had not built just one character, but multiple characters, and they also incorporated motion into their build, which was difficult to do with only 18 hours.
The next team that presented their final build was Sage and Ian, whose build was called Zzz Wizard. The story there was that the wizard was the keeper of dreams, and each of his drawers contains a special dream that everyone has, such as the ocean and a rocket ship in space, and today, he was writing their dream, and in one cloud, it was them in the Finale, and in another cloud, it was them in a world of pets, and then all of a sudden, the wizard’s cloak gets caught in the candle and lights on fire, and he accidentally writes a nightmare, which is the two of them getting chased by snakes, and while all this is happening, his pet owl is freaking out, with his head spinning around. The Brickmasters said they had a lot of fun with the model, it was really impressive, the fire on the sleeve provided a nice moment of tension, but it was just subtle enough that it seemed like a playful addition, and they were also impressed by the sheer size of it, and they also loved the face of the wizard.
The last team to present their final build was Ben and Michael, whose build was called Brobot’s Odyssey. The story was that Brobot ventures through a wasteland with green flowing rivers, and approaches a tall, crystalline structure, and on that crystal, he realizes that the center spire is an oracle, where the three surrounding spires begin to show him emotions of his future self that he has yet to encounter, and the emotions that are expressed by the different versions of Brobot are happiness, sadness, and anger, which are all emotions that they experienced throughout the competition, and they thought it would be cool to show Brobot exploring them. The Brickmasters were impressed with how they elevated the power functions to give a storytelling aspect, as they really introduced them to another world and brought it to life, and there were so many things happening in it that were captivating, and they were impressed that they were able to tell such an emotional story.
After that, it was time for the Brickmasters to announce who was in third place, and I asked my dad who he thought it would be, and he correctly guessed that it was Anthony and Joe. From there, it was time for the Brickmasters to announce the winners, and they were revealed to be Sage and Ian, which surprised my dad, as he was sure that Ben and Michael would win, but I feel that both of their builds were impressive.
Overall, this was another very good season of Lego Masters, and I’ll see you all soon with more blog posts!
